ABOUT THE FAIR
Suisse Public is Switzerland’s leading trade fair for the public sector and serves as a key platform for municipalities, cities, municipal depots, emergency services and public authorities. Organised by Bernexpo AG, the event takes place at the BERNEXPO exhibition centre in Bern and is held every two years.
The exhibition brings together around 250 exhibitors and attracts approximately 13,000 trade visitors from across Switzerland. Its focus is on practical solutions for day-to-day municipal operations, innovative technologies for public institutions, and modern approaches to safety, infrastructure and sustainability. A particularly strong presence comes from manufacturers of municipal vehicles and machinery, showcasing equipment and systems for winter maintenance, street cleaning, grounds maintenance, waste management and depot operations. The event also features suppliers from the fire, civil protection and emergency services sectors, presenting advanced emergency vehicles, protective and rescue equipment, communication systems and digital response technologies. Road construction, traffic signage, traffic management and smart mobility solutions are also key areas of interest.
Another major focus is municipal IT and security solutions. Companies showcase digital administration systems, data management platforms, cybersecurity solutions and smart applications for Smart City and e-government projects. The exhibition is further complemented by exhibitors specialising in recycling, waste disposal, building services engineering, cleaning systems, and sports and leisure infrastructure. As a result, Suisse Public covers virtually every key operational area of modern public services and provides a comprehensive overview of current developments in the municipal sector.
One of the event’s highlights is the “Suisse Public SMART” conference, which focuses on intelligent and sustainable solutions for cities, municipalities and public utilities. Expert presentations, live demonstrations and practical case studies encourage direct knowledge exchange between manufacturers, public authorities and end users. In cooperation with the Swiss Safety Verband, the event also showcases innovative concepts for workplace safety and the protection of employees in the public sector.
Exhibitors primarily represent the vehicle manufacturing, mechanical engineering, environmental technology, safety and rescue technology, infrastructure, IT, facilities management and municipal services sectors. Key visitor groups include representatives from cities and municipalities, municipal works departments, waste management companies, public transport operators, fire services, police and emergency services, as well as decision-makers from public authorities and infrastructure organisations. The high calibre of its professional audience makes the exhibition one of Switzerland’s most important meeting points for procurement, investment and innovation in the public sector.
The modern BERNEXPO exhibition centre offers extensive indoor halls, spacious outdoor areas for vehicle and machinery demonstrations, and excellent infrastructure. Thanks to direct public transport connections, the venue can be reached from Bern railway station within minutes by tram or bus. Its proximity to the motorway network, together with international rail and air links, makes Suisse Public an easily accessible industry meeting place for trade visitors from across Switzerland and neighbouring countries.
