ABOUT THE FAIR
The International Wels Coin Fair is a major event for collectors, professionals, and enthusiasts of numismatic treasures, ranking among the most important of its kind in the German-speaking world. Twice a year—each spring and autumn—the modern Stadthalle Wels, located in the heart of Upper Austria, transforms into a vibrant hub for numismatics. The venue offers a contemporary infrastructure, easy accessibility, and ideal conditions for expert exchange, professional advice, and the trade of high-quality collector's items.
The fair is organized by the Wels Numismatic Society of Upper Austria, a long-established institution dedicated to the promotion of numismatics. The event combines specialist knowledge with a true passion for collecting, appealing to both seasoned collectors and curious newcomers. Free admission further contributes to its welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
At the core of the fair are historical and modern coins—ranging from ancient Roman denarii to current euro issues. The selection is complemented by banknotes, emergency money, medals, decorations, militaria, postcards, scholarly literature, and premium accessories. One of the most appreciated features is the free expert appraisal service, offering objective valuations by recognized specialists.
Visitors also have the opportunity to buy and sell items directly on-site, in a personal and trustworthy setting. Another key focus is the sharing of knowledge and fostering of dialogue within the collecting community. The program is enriched by expert talks on current topics, special exhibitions, and the presentation of new research findings. Particular attention is given to historically significant coins from Upper Austria as well as to rare and notable collector's pieces.
