ABOUT THE FAIR
InnoTrans in Berlin is a leading international trade fair for transportation technology held biennially in September. Since its inception in 1996 by Messe Berlin GmbH, it has established itself as a central hub for innovations in transportation technology. Over four days, industry professionals and exhibitors from around the world gather at the expansive Messe Berlin site to network and showcase the latest technologies in both the indoor halls and the outdoor exhibition areas.
The main themes of InnoTrans include rail vehicle technology, with a focus on innovative vehicles for passenger and freight transport. Exhibits feature multiple-unit trains, locomotives, trams, and specialized construction and dual-mode vehicles. In the area of rail infrastructure, visitors learn about developments in signaling and control technologies, overhead line equipment, and the planning and monitoring of construction services. Public transport technology spans from fare management systems to passenger information systems, traffic management, and data processing. Interior design of vehicles, ranging from lighting to air conditioning, as well as tunnel construction, including tunnel boring machines and safety technologies, are also key exhibition areas.
The InnoTrans Convention offers a platform for high-level expert panels and discussions with leading figures from politics, business, and transportation. It serves as an important international communication point for discussing future trends and mobility issues. Additionally, the Career & Education sector highlights opportunities for newcomers by presenting career possibilities and educational offerings in the transportation sector.
Messe Berlin, as the venue, provides excellent infrastructure with modern halls and extensive outdoor areas, creating ideal conditions for presenting large-scale exhibits and rail-bound vehicles. Berlin’s central location in Europe and its role as a German competence center for transportation technology, home to over 220 companies, make it an ideal location for a fair of this magnitude.
On the whole the organisers welcomed on the 4 days of the fair, from 20. September to 23. September 2022, about 2771 exhibitors from 56 countries and 137403 visitors from 137 countries on the InnoTrans in Berlin. The InnoTrans will take place on 4 days from Tuesday, 22. September to Friday, 25. September 2026 in Berlin.
