ABOUT THE FAIR
The FRANCHISE EXPO GERMANY is a prestigious trade fair that has established itself as the central hub for franchising in Germany. Since its inception in 2018, the event has taken place annually in November at the Frankfurt am Main fairgrounds, serving as a showcase for a multitude of franchise opportunities from around the world. It is organized by MFV Expositions, a company experienced in organizing leading franchise fairs, in collaboration with the German Franchise Association (Deutscher Franchiseverband e.V.).
The concept of "franchising" originally comes from the United States and has since spread globally. However, the term itself is derived from old French. The word "franchise" means "freedom" or "privilege." In medieval times, it referred to a privilege or right granted by a monarch or local authority to exclusively engage in certain commercial activities, such as holding markets or trade routes.
Over time, "franchising" evolved into a business model that retains this basic idea - the granting of rights or privileges - but within a modern commercial context. In today's economic understanding, franchising refers to an agreement or relationship between two parties, the franchisor and the franchisee. The franchisor grants the franchisee the right to operate a business or sell products or services under its established brand name and operating model.
The core focus of FRANCHISE EXPO GERMANY is to connect entrepreneurs and those interested in business with franchise systems from various sectors, ranging from established brands to emerging newcomers. Altogether, around 120 exhibitors present approximately 140 different brands, making the fair the largest of its kind in the German-speaking area.
A distinctive feature of the expo is its comprehensive range of educational opportunities and resources for participants. This includes expert presentations from industry specialists, offering both fundamental and advanced insights into various aspects of franchising. The "Master Class" sessions are a particular highlight, providing in-depth, practical knowledge.
