ABOUT THE FAIR
The Foire Agricole is Luxembourg’s leading agricultural fair, combining a trade exhibition, innovation platform and public event in a distinctive format. It takes place annually—usually in July—at the Deich exhibition grounds in Ettelbrück and is organised by the municipal authorities, providing a central forum for exchange between agriculture, industry, research and the wider public.
As a comprehensive showcase of the agri-food sector, the fair covers the full spectrum of modern agriculture, from livestock farming, crop production and forestry to horticulture and viticulture. At the same time, it positions itself as a driver of future developments in the sector, presenting innovations in agricultural biotechnology, sustainable production methods and practical solutions to current challenges. Research institutions, agricultural organisations and companies use the event strategically to present new technologies, machinery and services, while engaging directly with end users.
A particular emphasis is placed on regional products and responsible consumption. Visitors can experience the diversity of Luxembourg’s produce through farmers’ markets, tastings and culinary competitions. This close connection between producers and consumers strengthens awareness of regional value chains and sustainable consumption. In addition, livestock competitions, demonstrations and presentations offer insights into quality standards and performance in animal husbandry, while equestrian shows and live demonstrations bring the programme to life.
The Foire Agricole caters to both trade visitors—including farmers, foresters, traders, scientists and industry experts—and the general public, including families. Its educational focus is especially noteworthy: children and young people can experience the processing stages of agricultural products first-hand and explore training and career pathways in the agricultural sector. With around 300 exhibitors spanning agricultural machinery, livestock breeding, industry organisations, research and regional production, the fair represents a dense network across the entire agri-food value chain.
Closely linked to Luxembourg and particularly to Ettelbrück, the Foire Agricole reflects the country’s identity as a modern yet tradition-conscious agricultural nation. The Deich exhibition centre stands out for its spacious outdoor areas and proximity to the town centre. With good road and rail connections, Ettelbrück is easily accessible, making a visit to the fair both convenient and appealing.
