ABOUT THE FAIR
BioSüd is an annual trade fair for the organic sector and has been firmly established within Germany’s organic industry since its inception in 2009. The name not only reflects the fair’s core focus on organic products and sustainable innovations but also emphasizes its regional orientation toward southern Germany, particularly Bavaria and the adjoining Alpine regions. Organized by Matthias Deppe und Wolfram Müller OHG , the event draws on many years of experience and in-depth industry knowledge to offer a platform that holds a unique position within the sector.
The venue is the Augsburg Exhibition Center, which transforms once a year into a vibrant meeting point for organic retailers, health food stores, organic supermarkets, foodservice providers, bulk purchasers, and other key industry players.
At the heart of the event are premium organic foods and natural cosmetics, all certified to strict organic standards. The fair presents a comprehensive cross-section of the organic value chain – from regional specialties produced by beekeepers, cheesemakers, and wineries to innovative new products such as fermented drinks and plant-based formulations. Established brands meet emerging start-ups, fostering a dynamic exchange between tradition and innovation.
A varied supporting program featuring lectures, workshops, forums, and panel discussions addresses the most pressing issues in the sector. Topics include certification processes, supply chain challenges, soil health, carbon offsetting, and legal frameworks for organic agriculture, as well as market developments, pricing structures, and the integration of organic policy into broader political decision-making. Direct dialogue between producers, retailers, industry experts, and policymakers creates space for practical solutions and encourages sustainable partnerships.
Exhibitors primarily come from the organic and health food retail sectors, as well as the organic foodservice industry. A wide range of regional producers rounds out the offering. The fair is attended exclusively by trade visitors – including independent retailers, restaurateurs, wholesalers, and representatives from associations, media, and government – all united by a shared goal: to further develop an ecologically and socially responsible organic industry.
BioSüd is part of a nationwide network of trade fairs, which also includes BioOst (Leipzig), BioWest (Düsseldorf), and BioNord (Hamburg). Together, these events form a strong network for the organic trade in Germany – regionally rooted and nationally connected.
