ABOUT THE FAIR
The Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) is one of the largest and most significant pop culture conventions in the United States. Every year, it attracts thousands of visitors to McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois—the largest convention center in North America. Organized by ReedPop/RX USA, one of the world’s leading pop culture event organizers, C2E2 is open to both industry professionals and the general public.
The term "pop culture" emerged in the 20th century as a counter-movement to traditional high culture. It gained prominence, particularly in the United States and the United Kingdom, after World War II, driven by the rise of mass media such as radio, television, and later, the internet. Key influences included the music industry (Rock 'n' Roll, Pop, Hip-Hop), Hollywood films, comic books (e.g., Marvel and DC), TV series, and video games.
While popular cultural trends have existed throughout history, modern pop culture took shape in the 1950s with the rise of rock ‘n’ roll, the comic book boom, and youth culture. The 1960s and 1970s saw further development through television, pop art (e.g., Andy Warhol), fashion, and subcultures. Since the 1990s and 2000s, digitalization has accelerated its global spread through social media, streaming platforms, and online communities.
Since its inaugural event in 2010, C2E2 has established itself as a central platform for comics, films, TV series, gaming, anime, manga, cosplay, and pop culture merchandise. The expo brings together fans, renowned comic artists, writers, actors, and industry experts, offering a stage for the latest trends and developments.
